Snack Media is delighted to announce that Wisden – the independent voice of cricket – has become the latest big name to join our network of sports sites.
Founded in 1864, the Wisden’s Cricketers’ Almanack – often labelled the “Bible of Cricket” – is rich in cricket heritage and one of the most respected names in the world of sports. Wisden is a leader in cricket content, both in print and, more recently, digitally via the monthly magazine, website and social media channels.
Having already improved Wisden’s position in the market working alongside our other cricket partners and audience, Snack Media will monetise content, as well as continue to drive traffic via our suite of fan engagement tools, whilst helping the brand grow across all digital platforms with effective SEO and other traffic-driving strategies.
Snack Media has made an immediate impact, increasing display viewability by around 30% to meet industry standards (60%+) and increased UK Display CPMs by 200%+, whilst decreasing the business costs with cost-effective hosting. On top of this we have boosted site speed and overall performance, which we look to further improve over the coming months.
James Murphy, Head of Partner Network at Snack Media commented: “Following on from the acquisition of GiveMeSport it was great to also partner up with another reputable brand and publisher in the sporting world. Wisden has been one of the most respected brands in world sport for over 150 years. Working together is a great opportunity to support the team as they retain the brand’s heritage and transform their digital offering.”
Ian Sykes, Managing Director of Wisden, added: “Having identified the 2020 domestic cricket season as being a very important period for the strategic growth of wisden.com, we set out to get a number of key elements in place by mid-April, including a partner to serve our programmatic advertising. However, we needed to carefully consider both the Wisden brand and user experience, so a simple plug in and play solution wouldn’t work for us. Snack Media understood this from the outset, and so far their consultative approach has played a significant part in growing the site both in terms of traffic and performance.”
