Social media exploded over the arrival of new football app, OTRO which gives behind-the-scenes access to world class players such as Lionel Messi and David Beckham. The football entertainment platform looks to be a ‘global fan club’. Although there is a selection of content for free, for full access there is a paid subscription for $3.99.

Former Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis has been named as the new AC Milan CEO. He signed a contract which runs until 2020. The 54 year-old joined Arsenal in 2008 and left the Gunners earlier this year shortly after the departure of long standing manager, Arsene Wenger. He will now look for a renaissance for Milan who are currently fourth in Series A.

UEFA Women’s football signed a deal with Visa to become their first-ever sponsor until 2025. The financial services corporation will support UEFA Women’s football on a number of different levels from grassroots football to the Champions League. Visa will primarily support the #WePlayStrong campaign which encourages more girls and women to play football.

Samsung and the International Olympic Committee have extended their current deal until 2028. The South Korean multinational has been part of the IOC top programme since 1998. Samsung will continue its work in the wireless communications equipment and computing equipment category. However, it will now also promote artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality and include 5G features.

The Players’ Tribune, an athlete-led content platform, have purchased digital media company Unscriptd. The deal seeks to make TPT the world’s largest athlete-generated content provider. Just like OTRO, they are looking to make a brand-new mobile app thanks to the addition of Unscriptd’s mobile technology. Athletes will be able to create, edit and publish short-form videos to connect with their fans.
