FootballFanCast has launched its very own weekly football podcast, Fixture in Focus, which takes one big Premier League fixture every week and dissects it in greater detail.
Each week, Editor-in-Chief, James Jones, is joined by Snack’s very own football experts, Christy Malyan and Chris McMullan, as well as a continuous stream of industry guests and key influencers to offer expert opinion on each week’s dedicated fixture. Previous guests include, Robbie Lyle from Arsenal Fan TV, Knees Up Mother Brown, Anfield Edition and CityWatch.
Nestled in between the weekly Thursday slot are occasional special episodes, which focus on areas of football that aren’t given the exposure or limelight they perhaps deserve. The first special episode, which aired two weeks ago, was an injury special featuring injury data specialist, Ben Dinnery and former Notts County Head Physio, Johnny Wilson.
Snack Media was born out of a podcast about Tottenham Hotspur over 11 years ago, so this new podcast is a return to company roots but also a reflection the success of Football FanCast in recent years.
Explaining how the podcast came about, James said: “We identified a gap in the football podcast market.
“Everyone just seems to be doing generic football podcasts but we saw an opportunity to do something a little bit different by picking one fixture every week and talking about it in more detail.
“We ran the Fixture in Focus feature on the website last season but it was only via editorial. This season we’ve added the podcast and video to that to offer our readers far more content strands in which to consume the high quality content we’re producing.”
In a world where podcasts have become a staple of everyday life, Fixture in Focus is a breath of fresh air in a field where content is saturated with video and generic football podcasts. A new episode of the Fixture in Focus podcast is released every Thursday and is available on various platforms including, iTunes, Spotify, aCast, Google Podcasts, Stitcher and PocketCasts. Listeners can also follow the show on Twitter using the handle @FixtureInFocus.
