The end of the football season is approaching and awards are being handed out. But it’s not just players who are being lauded for their efforts.

The finalists for the 2018 Football Blogging Awards have been announced ahead of the gala event at London’s Alexandra Palace on May 17th. It is, essentially, the Oscars of the online content creation space in football, and some of the biggest names in the sector will be in attendance.

Over the years, independent voices in football have been getting louder and more respected. No longer are online creators marginalised ‘bloggers’ but many have large platforms to present their views and massive social media followings to engage with their audience.

Personalities such as Spencer FC, Robbie Lyle from Arsenal Fan TV – and now his own Channel Four show – and Stan Collymore are up for awards in the various categories and will be hoping to leave with a shiny trophy at the end of the night from the event which will be broadcast on a major channel.

Each category will have two winners – one chosen by a panel of judges and the other by a fan vote, so there are plenty of ways for fans of the nominees’ work to get involved. Voting is now open, and votes can be cast on the website or on Twitter – details of how to do that can be found here – and will close on May 7th at 10pm.

Tickets are available from the FBAs website, and a special launch offer will end on Tuesday 1st May at 5pm.

In the week leading up to the FA Cup final, the brightest stars of football’s burgeoning online content creation space will congregate in one of London’s iconic sports venues – it’s not to be missed.
