Snack Social Summary-Instagram allowing users to switch accounts, the best tweets on Twitter, and a terrible tweet from Apple CEO Tim Cook

Instagram finally allows users to switch between multiple accounts!

Definitely the best social news of the week. After months of testing and waiting, Instagram has officially rolled out a feature allowing users to switch between multiple accounts.

This is the end of an era where users, particularly Community Managers, had to enter a new username followed by a new password – what a waste of time!

But now, all users and brands are able to link up to five accounts. This is a revolution.

Twitter to show the best tweets first

Last weekend, an article from BuzzFeed created an amazing buzz on Twitter informing that the platform is launching an algorithmic timeline similar to Facebook.

A real catastrophe for users who announced the end of Twitter using the hashtag #RIPTwitter, a top trend throughout the weekend.

However, Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey reassured users about the change, tweeting: “Twitter is live. Twitter is real-time. Twitter is about who & what you follow. And Twitter is here to stay! By becoming more Twitter-y.”

In the end, BuzzFeed and Jack Dorsey were right. Twitter launched a new feature to see above your timeline in real-time a collection of “best tweets” selected by an algorithm. To discover it, users have to opt in.

Apple’s CEO sent the worst tweet of the week

Among the 27 million tweets about Super Bowl 50, one came from Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, who congratulated Denver Broncos on the victory.

However, this tweet, later deleted, contained a blurry photo almost certainly taken with the latest iPhone. When you’re at the head of the greatest tech company in the world and you share a terrible photo with your flagship product, get ready for the abuse!

Indeed, some Twitter users couldn’t help trolling the Apple’s Boss.

Vine does what we want on Twitter

One of our dreams on social media is to be able to edit posted tweets. Vine, platform owned by Twitter, has done just that with the launch of a new feature to edit video captions after posting.

However, the feature is limited. Indeed, Vine will let you edit the caption for “a brief period of time” and only the text can be changed, not the video.

Anyway, this new update from Twitter gives social users a ray of hope of one day seeing a similar feature to edit tweets.

Super Bowl 50 swept Twitter

Played last Sunday, Super Bowl 50, one of the greatest sports fixtures on the planet, created a wave of tweets rarely seen on Twitter.

Tim Cook was not the only one to tweet on the game. In total, the event generated 4.3 billion impressions, based on 27 million tweets worldwide from pre-game to post-game.

In comparison with the last Rugby World Cup, tweets about #RWC2015 generated “only” 6.8 billion impressions in 44 days.
