How social media reacted to the Champions League draw

This morning the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixtures were revealed, after a draw the whole football world was waiting for.

Chelsea will play PSG once again, Arsenal face the Barcelona juggernaut, Man City got lucky with Dynamo Kyiv… it was a draw that sparked a host of reactions on social media.

Take a look at the greatest social content from clubs, players, fans… about #UCLdraw:

Chelsea and PSG, a love story

For the third time in three years, Chelsea will face Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League game once again. This clash has become a habit in the tournament. So how does social media see this new meeting between Zlatan’s crew and the “11 babies” blues?

Both clubs have tended to share the same content on social media, again & again. This new classic could be a bit tedious?

The last confrontation between Chelsea and PSG was marked by PSG’s unbelievable qualification at Stamford Bridge. A bad dream for Chelsea manager José Mourinho, an feat for his counterpoint, Laurent Blanc.

“Cooee José”

Chelsea players didn’t forget the Zlatan quote after the game: “Playing against Chelsea is like being surrounded by 11 babies.” What would be the next escapade from Ibra?

Arsenal, already eliminated

It’s not a good time to play Barcelona at the moment. Unfortunately, Arsenal will be the next one. On social media, users have already bet on a hiding for Arsène Wenger’s men.

While Arsenal remembered some legendary goals against their upcoming opponent, Barcelona reminded us about their leadership in this clash.

It was a comical contrast when a fun account gave some hope to Arsenal fans, while the offical competition handle broke them all.

Social media unanimously announced the end of the Gunners in the tournament. Even Manchester City (beaten by Barcelona last year) said a little goodbye to Arsenal with one of the great tweets of the day.

And 6 other games according to social media

The biggest clash in this round of 16 pits Bayern Munich against Juventus. Both clubs feel ready to start the fixture.

Another great game pairs Real Madrid with AS Roma. AS Roma centre back Antonio Rüdiger was the first player to tweet, apparently he feels really excited.

One of the strangest pieces of content came from Zenit Saint Petersburg, certainly not used to participating at a UCL draw.

Get ready for Tuesday 16 February, when this Round of 16 kicks off. Two things are sure, like Alan Shearer says it’s going to be tough for our English teams…

… and United will not be there.
