THE RUGBY DRUM is looking for rugby writers interested in being a part of a fast growing online rugby publication based in North London. A site written for fans, by fans, you’ll be opinionated about our great game and be well-informed. You’ll be given the opportunity to be a part of the buzz of the upcoming 2015 Rugby World Cup and get your work published and seen by a rugby union  network numbering over 500,000 rugby fans.

THE POSITION is ideal for sports journalism students looking to get their name out there in the world of sports journalism. Initially unpaid, you will write 3-4 articles per week with the prospect of progressing into a full-time paid writer role once the season starts in September.

Online is the future of rugby journalism and Snack Media is offering you an opportunity to build a large portfolio of work to expand your CV. Writing for the Rugby Drum will enable you to cut your teeth in the world of online journalism and learn skills that will be invaluable as you look to progress your career. You will have the opportunity to be creative in your writing and cover a whole range of different topics, including rugby news, technical insights and extensive editorials. You will also have the ability to learn in the art of LIVE coverage of games and the power of social media, both as a tool for communication and self-promotion. You will learn how to write articles in a variety of styles to learn how to engage your audience in different ways.

The Rugby World Cup is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and you will be at the epicentre of it.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE will

  •  have a passion for writing and a desire to learn and improve
  •  possess a great interest and understanding of rugby
  • be opinionated on issues within rugby
  • be proactive and self-motivated
  •  have reliable access to high-speed internet
  • the ability to source and select news suitable on the site
  • be based remotely for the time-being
