Most shared stories on different social media platforms

Newswhip looked into the most shared stories on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest and compared whether any stories featured across more than one platform. Very few did, highlighting the different sort of users that use each social media platform.

Facebook Create New Legacy Feature

Facebook have once again updated their settings. However, this feature is one that many will hope they can avoid for quite some time. On Thursday, Facebook released an update to create the Legacy Contact. This contact that is chosen by the user will have control over the account once the primary user is deceased. A grim update to most but one that seems long overdue as the families of the deceased had no way of gaining control of the account and accessing the information.

Twitter released a new tool called Curator that allows media outlets to target news and trends at specific locations. Although the tool may not apply to the everyday social media user, companies and social media analysts will be able to track and analyse trends based on specific locations and information. This is a smart attempt by Twitter to expand from just the common social media user but rather the business side of social media.

Vine adds ‘Vine Kids’ feature

Vine have now released a new part of their app to kids which is known as Vine Kids. This kid friendly section is made for youngsters to watch and share apps without the risk of watching something inappropriate. Vine seems to be targeting kids to promote and increase use at a young age. The app will be able to distinguish what is child friendly and what is considered to be too graphic.  The app will also play funny sounds for the children as they watch the videos to enhance the experience.  Vine Kids is an attempt to introduce children to safe and kid friendly content on an ever growing app at a young age.

Instagram bug is pining celebrity posts

This may well be an update from the photo-sharing app, however, it has yet to be confirmed as to why more high profile users posts are remaining ‘pinned’ to the top of feeds – are brands paying for this service?
