Snack Social Summary

Did you know… Social media ad spending in the UK is expected to double this year.

Here is what else has happened in social media this week:

Facebook to take on YouTube

Facebook is encouraging some of YouTube’s core content creators to start trialling distribution on their site. So far Collective Digital Studio and Makers Studio have tested this out.

 Apple upgrade great for Snapchat

Apple’s new upgrade to IOS 8 enables users to upload photos directly to Snapchat, widening the use of the platform. This will provide great opportunities for more brands to explore Snapchat as a key marketing platform.

Instagram to roll out Ads in the UK

Instagram Ads have already been rolled out in the US and the test advert in the UK (below) has already received over 18,000 likes. Ads are aiming to be as natural as possible.

YouTube has introduced real-time statistics

This new tool allows video creators to see how many people are viewing their videos on a minute-by-minute or hour-by-hour basis. These new statistics can be accessed in the analytics section of YouTube by clicking ‘realtime’.

Bebo is back!

Although the re-brand ad has now been switched back to private, Bebo has announced that it will be returning. Earlier this year Bebo also released the video messaging app Blab.

It was once the third biggest social network- will it rise to it’s former glory?
