Twitter Encounters Teenage Growth Spurt

TwitterCrown_zpsc7dc8216It is rare that you see a teenager that is not attached to some mobile device, texting or talking to their friends on some social network. Facebook used to be the front-runner in most popular social network, being the all-rounder that is, is what attracted teenagers. However, in a recent survey performed in the US* it was discovered that Facebook is no longer the favourite social media channel, that title now belongs to Twitter.

Coming in with 26% of the votes, Twitter overtook Facebook and Instagram who both managed to attain 23% of the share each. Despite coming out on top though, Twitter has also suffered a loss having previously managed 30% share of the votes. Instagram is the network that has won as the social network that has actually entered into the hearts of the teenage population as since spring they have gained a 5% increase in popularity.

In the age of the ‘selfie’ it is no wonder that picture orientated networks such as Instagram are on the rise in the social media world , plus it makes even a bad picture look good and no teenager wants a bad picture online. However, I’m sure the ever-changing Facebook will soon come up with something new to make sure this drop does not get any lower.
