The Positives of Google+

UntitledGoogle verb [/ˈɡuː.ɡl̩] definition: to search for something on the internet through Google search engine.

Everybody has heard of Google, I mean they even have their own verb in the Oxford dictionary. However, they are no longer just the world’s biggest search engine. They now have produced their own set of laptops and tablets, an app store and a social media platform – Google+.

Google+ is an important site for all businesses to consider signing up to for one main reason – SEO. It is very easy to get lost in the Google search as it changes so quickly, so when you are signed up to a site that has the entirety of that search engine behind it means your business has the opportunity to be indexed accurately and effectively. It is also a perfect way for marketers to get a fresh outlook.

According to GlobalWebIndex Google+ now has over 359million users*, which is a mile ahead of Twitter. And although Facebook is still an alarming way ahead of both of these two channels, it is increasingly becoming the place where you meet and catch-up with friends, Google+ on the other hand can have a big role in your business development.

What are the main benefits of Google+?

  1. The SEO benefits
  2. Google+ figures out your area of influence by the posts you post on your page – this consequently means that more people can find you relating to a specific topic. This links into communities. Communities within Google+ allow you to find people with the same interests very easily.
  3. Every time one of your posts receives a comment, that posts goes back to the top of your timeline.
  4. Hashtags – you may think they are only for Twitter, but they make everything searchable on Google+.

The prominent integration of social and SEO – the two go together, but what better way than to make them more effective than being part of a site that powers the world’s most powerful search engine? I can’t think one.
