British football fans admit they’d be more disappointed with football players cheating on the pitch, than cheating on their own partners (75%), according to research with over 1,000 British football fans in the Football Fans Survey 2011, brought to you by ZOO Magazine and FootballFanCast.com.

Although clearly passionate about the game of football, unsexy football-loving Brits also say that they would do without any bedroom action for the beautiful game, with 54% of all football fans choosing ‘football’ over ‘sex’, if they had to choose one.

Furthermore, half of football fans (51%) named Harry Redknapp as their next preferred England manager, voted Steven Gerrard as the nation’s best Premier League player and would most like to go for a pint with Ryan Giggs.

The full results of the Football Fans Survey 2011, in association with leading football fan website FootballFanCast.com will appear in ZOO Magazine out Tuesday 8th March, revealing that Manchester United is the most hated club in the UK (35%), Tottenham is the nation’s second favourite football club (20%), while a quarter of fans think Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is the best football ground to visit (27%).

Sarah Groarke, co-founder of FootballFanCast.com comments: ‘’It’s understandable why so many football fans get so passionate about the game, especially at this point in the season. While I’m sure the fans don’t condone football players cheating on their partners, it’s clear that the last thing they want to see is any sort of cheating on the pitch. This comes over loud and clear as an opinion topic on the FootballFanCast.com site, as well as who’s going to be the next England manager. We conducted the survey with ZOO to get a true and current picture of fans’ opinions to make sure we keep our content relevant and inspiring for fans who love to voice their opinions about the beautiful game”.

Richard Innes, ZOO Features Editor: “If our football survey proves one thing, it’s that for our readers – people who actually go to matches to support their team – nothing is more important than the game itself. Players caught playing away from home? Don’t care, as long as they’re not cheating on the pitch. Worried that it’s all getting too expensive? Nope, it’s all still worth it. Chance to have some sex? Sorry, dear, the football’s on. Plenty of people will tell you the national game is in crisis right now. Not according to our results…”

The research also showed that over half of football fans (54%) want the next England manager to be English.

Three quarters of football fans think the Premier League was better than it was five years ago, while nearly seven in 10 fans think their club offers value for money.

Frank Lampard was considered the worst Premier League player while El Hadji Diouf is the player that fans would least like to go for a pint with.

Everton and Bolton were the least hated football clubs, while the best away supporters in Britain were Liverpool.
