Snapchat to compete with Facebook Messenger
Snapchat is adding new features to its text message design. Indeed, some screenshots have leaked in the US.
After this update, Snapchat users should be able to call, send live audio, use stickers, send personal pictures and make video calls.
With 7 billion daily views and 200 million active users, Snapchat is looking to provide more features for its users, similar to those of its competitors. The aim? We can be pretty sure that it is to enourage users to stay longer on the platform.

Reactions are coming to Facebook
In October 2015, Facebook announced the launching of “Reactions”: a collection of buttons, adding to the iconic “Like” button, to interact with a post.
After testing this new feature in some countries including Spain and Ireland, the social giant is ready to unveil Reactions in the US in the next few weeks.
Facebook is wise to not change its trademark, the “Like” button, across the world. However, this alternative could be a great addition for users, giving them more choices for sharing how they’re feeling.
Today we’re launching a pilot test of Reactions — a more expressive Like button. As you can see, it’s not a “dislike” button, though we hope it addresses the spirit of this request more broadly. We studied which comments and reactions are most commonly and universally expressed across Facebook, then worked to design an experience around them that was elegant and fun. Starting today Ireland and Spain can start loving, wow-ing, or expressing sympathy to posts on Facebook by hovering or long-pressing the Like button wherever they see it. We’ll use the feedback from this to improve the feature and hope to roll it out to everyone soon.

A dog as Community Manager
Last year we saw Betty, the chicken who tweets for Chicken Treat in Australia. This year, a new animal has entered the fray: Minnie the corgi.
The NBA franchise Scramento Kings had the idea to let a dog take over their social media accounts for the game against Indiana Pacers.
Minnie fictitiously took charge of all Kings’ channels including Vine, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. Evidently, the team sought to create a social buzz using a dedicated hashtag, #CorgiTakeover. A pretty cool distraction for followers who even saw Minnie post her own tweet with her paws (check out below).

Facebook makes $3.73 per user
A bit of business in this summary. Facebook has unveiled this week the results of its last quarter in 2015. Once again, the figures are awesome.
Thanks to its advertising developmement, mostly on mobile, the social giant earned $5.841 billion in revenue in the Q4, which works out as $3.73 per user. In 2015, Facebook brought in a total revenue of $17,93, a growth of 44%.
The social figures are huge as well. Facebook has hit 1.59 billion users, including 1.04 billion daily active users, 30 million more than 3 months ago. 90% of daily active users use their mobile.
The comapny has also unveiled figures for its other platforms: 900 million monthly active users on Whatsapp and 800 million on Messenger… Where will Facebook stop?
