Even if Wall Street is disappointed about Twitter profits, with only 4 million new users in 3 months, this has not slowed the social network down in terms of developing new tools and features for its users.
Here’s what’s been developed on the platform behind the blue bird:

- At last a great analytics platform
We waited until Summer 2014 to have access to an analytics tab on Twitter. Most are very familiar with Twitter Analytics functionalities, but below is a small reminder about key features of this service.
How engaging are your tweets really?
Available on mobile since December 2014, this option allows Twitter users to find out a wealth of information about there tweets: Impressions (views) and Engagement (Retweets, Favorites, Profils Clicks, Link Clicks, Replies…)

Know everything about your account:
On desktop you have access to a summary of your account for the time period you desire, with a summary per month with your top tweet, top media tweet, top mention and top follower.
You can’t deny the vast improvement in Twitter in this area!

2. Send Direct Messages to anyone AND with unlimited characters
We were all frustrated with being unable to send a DM to someone who doesn’t follow us. Since April 2015 all Twitter users can send a message to anyone (that is if they have that feature enabled).
You can also now send a DM with more than 140 characters.
With this development with its messaging feature, Twitter increases competitiveness with other messaging services (Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger…) by deleting previous barriers.
Moreover, Twitter has also added super-sized emojis – very similar to Facebook…
Despite of a lot of changes in a little time, is it not too late for Twitter to be a major actor in messaging service?

3. Moments
In October, Twitter rolled out a new service: Moments
Via this new tab, you can watch the best of Twitter in one instant. You can have access to videos and GIFs and the ability to share these with your own network – a very similar concept to Snapchat Stories.
To promote this new service, Twitter launches a campaign today inline with the World Series in the USA.

4. Twitter Polls
Also very recently, Twitter announced that all Twitter users will soon be able to create polls. A good way to improve users experience and an easy engaging tool for brands.

What’s next for Twitter?
What could be new next year for Twitter:
- An place for eCommerce? For months we have been waiting the “Buy Now” button – it’s still in testing phase.
- The ability to edit a tweet. We all make mistakes, especially when tweeting furiously – it would be very kind of Twitter to help us out with an edit tool after we have pressed “tweet”
- Unlimited characters? The question that has divided all Twitter users. Yes, it can sometimes take a very long time to reduce what you want to say down to 140 characters, but does this then limit the amount of drivel we see on the platform?
We asked you this question yesterday (using the new Twitter polls!):
We want to know which new @twitter feature you would prefer? #polls #twitter #updates

One thing is certain – we are certainly looking forward to what the next 12 months bring on Twitter!
