Major League soccer is growing and expanding within the United States.

Every year, new teams are being added and new players are joining their squads. The most recent team to become part of Major League Soccer is New York City FC which is owned by the prestigious New York Yankees and former Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City.

The investments made by these two highly successful franchises represent an indicator for a growing market that is continuing to improve.  A company known as STATsports has partnered with multiple teams in the MLS. The company was formed in 2007 and works with various sport leagues and organizations. The company has one basic function. That function is collect and distributes data for professional sport organizations to enhance and maximize their assets – the athletes.

The MLS has just furthered its expansion with eight teams in the league gaining a partnership with STATsports. These teams include Sporting Kansas FC, Orlando City SC, New York Red Bulls, La Galaxy, New York City FC, Houston Dynamo, Columbus Crew, and the Colorado Rapid.

STATsports is a performance analyst company that provides equipment to teams to track and learn more about the athletes. The system is known as the Viper System. This new software will be able to monitor training sessions and player output. This software is able to record and send information through a live streaming system. Coaches and medical staff will be able to track every movement and action an athlete performs as soon as it is done. Athletes will have to wear the Viper Pod which will provide a constant information tracker for every movement and drill the player engages in.

This new partnership between the MLS and STATsports is another indicator of a growing soccer market in the United States. As the market continues to expand, we should expect more lucrative partners between sport companies and MLS franchises.
