Instagram overtakes Twitter
Not only has Instagram followed Twitter’s lead and has now introduced verified badges for all celebrities, athletes and brands, but this week it has been announced that there are now over 300million users on Instagram.
The last numbers reported by Twitter claims it has 284 million monthly users.

Facebook revamps trending
Facebook is attempting to close the ‘real-time’ gap with Twitter by expanding its trending portal. The feature will now be available on mobile and will be broken down in to five sections showing different slices of conversation, ranging from a live feed from around the world to what your friends and network are saying.

UK Social Media use has dropped by a tenth in 2014, says Ofcom
In an online survey of 9,065 consumers from nine different countries, Ofcom have reported a 9% drop in social media use among adults. However, social media still remains the most popular internet activity.
