Capital One Cup Live Blog Event

We are living in the age of the duel-screen, where real-time digital content is a key accompaniment to live sporting events.

Though the live event itself will always take centre stage, live blogs are starting to become an increasingly vital offering from digital agencies. However, what happens when you put the two together?

Snack Media orchestrated a live blog for clients Capital One for the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-finals, highlighting perfectly how getting fans together to share their opinions enhances the overall experience of the event.

The evening brought together a number of football bloggers, members of the public and Liverpool legend John Barnes in order to take live blogging to the next level.

Pre-game

The main opportunity at these live events is the chance for interviews with football legends. However, whilst these interviews take place there was also the chance for our content capturers to generate some brilliant photo and Vine content which was uploaded onto our Twitter as well as the live blog both before and during the match. The beauty of having the live blog on screens around the room is that attendees could see their Vines and photos up on the screen as the game went on.

Throughout the Game

Twitter is an important part of these events, but the Live Blog is the driving force which brings everything together. The Snack Media Team streamed a constant live feed of action from the show by  not only using brilliant content from our other social media channels, but live blogging any news as it happened.

What we achieved?

The primary aim of a live blog from a client’s perspective is to give added exposure to the company through digital engagement and also to increase coverage and provoke discussion through social media channels. Ultimately, it gives fans, bloggers and the general public a chance to become fully immersed in a burgeoning digital experience.
